Comprehensive Swimming Program for All Levels
The Gympie ARC Squad Program consists of two distinct levels of instruction. Training groups are arranged into levels according to the swimmer’s abilities. The coaching staff assesses all swimmers in order to determine the appropriate training group.
ORIENTATION SQUAD – $22.50p/wk
The number one priority at this stage is skill and stroke development including a range of drills as opposed to physical conditioning. As well as refining strokes the swimmers will learn and practice the butterfly stroke. Dives turns, training routines e.g. interval training with pace clock and sprinting are also a priority.
DEVELOPMENT SQUAD – $27.50p/wk
Development squad swimmers will refine all strokes with the use of technical drills. The medley phase of training is a high priority in this group. As well as dives, starts, and turns. It will also introduce medley turns.

Joining Swim Squad
As children progress through the squads, they become more competent at maintaining their technique over longer distances.
The long-term competition and training model also highlights what competition events should be trained at each squad level and what energy systems should be targeted.
The aerobic system is developed through the Junior, Intermediate, State Development and State Squads. The National squad is introduced to more Anaerobic forms of training while still developing and maintaining their aerobic capacities.
